It's been a horrible couple of weeks - I'm still catching up on my FML
reading.

>I know that to folks who do thank people this doesn't sound like much,
>but believe me when I say that some others haven't yet learned to take
>one or two minutes just to hit "reply" and write in "Thank you".

I want to thank Sukie for posting this. It's such a quick and simple
courtesy to reply, but it really does make a difference. Just a quick
little reply says to the sender, "Thank you for taking time out of your
day to write to me. I appreciate your thoughts and your effort." It
says all of this even if you type in only one word - "Thanks." On the
other hand, if you don't reply, it sends the message that, "I do not care
what you have to say and have taken the time neither to read your note
nor to reply to you." That may not be your intention at all, but that's
what the sender hears.

Please, the next time you receive a kindly note from someone, consider
taking a few moments to send a reply. It doesn't have to be long - you
can simply say thanks or acknowledge that you received the email. It
really will be appreciated.
