Well it seems what I have visiting my yard is a mink.  Someone sent me
some pictures of both a weasel and a mink and the mink fit the bill so
very much better.  This was a FAST little guy but I was more than
fortunate to chance upon the little guy.
 
They can be very vicious but these are wild animals living in a very
difficult environment.  After all, Mink kibble plants went extinct with
the antlered ferrets, you know ... the ones that had scales under the
feathers ?
