This message is to the guy that posted weeks ago about his ferret losing
it's tail hair and getting scaly skin. Sorry it took me so long, but I was
catching up on weeks of postings! Back in October my little girl began
losing all the hair on her tail and near the tip the skin was becoming black
and scaly. She also lost a little bit of weight. The vet said there were
no mites and didn't really have any suggestions except maybe excessive
chewing from fleas. I immediately began supplementing her dry food with
Linatone, Cat Lax(she was also choking a lot), and Ferretvite. Because of
my combined treatment I will never know which actually helped, but her tail
hair all grew back and her winter coat came in nicely. I gave her these
every day until my vet said that too much Linatone could cause a buildup of
too much fatty acids, and possibly vitamin A toxicity. She still gets
ferretvite daily because she cannot maintain her weight without it. She
also gets Catlax daily, because the vet said she can't really get too much
of it.(It recently helped her to pass an entire piece of A.B.C. chewing
gum!) Good Luck.
