Chapter 5 - Things Get Kind Of Fishy

The shock of hitting the cold ocean face first brought a new burst of
energy to Christofert. Desperately trying to keep his head above water,
he tried to spot the ship. He saw it once more before he was tumbled
once again under a mighty wave. He gasped for air, but only sucked in
water. He coughed once, and found one more mouthful of air before being
sucked back under the water.

He was so exhausted and so oxygen starved that he started to feel light
and airy, almost as if he was floating through a cloud. He noticed a
rather attractive human woman swim up to him. She was strange for a
human though. For one thing, she wasn't wearing any clothes, and
Christofert knew that humans always felt the need to cover themselves
since they didn't have any decent fur. Then even though he couldn't
breath, Christofert somehow noticed that this human didn't have any legs.
Instead she had a fish tail. At this point Christofert assumed that he
was dead. He didn't even mind when the mermaid brought him to her mouth
and kissed him. When she kissed him, she blew precious air into his
lungs. Suddenly the burning in his lungs disappeared and he relaxed.
Looking at himself he noticed that his paws had turned into paddles, and
his fur had disappeared.

"Well little one," started the mermaid "you looked like you were in
trouble. I saw what you did and that was very brave."

"What happened to me?" asked Christofert.

"I rescued you." giggled the mermaid. You obviously weren't designed for
swimming, so I changed you into a sealion. My magic isn't very strong,
so you need to get to shore quickly before you change back. Come this
way, I'll lead as close to shore as I can." The mermaid started to swim
away, then paused. She looked back and waved Christofert to follow.
"Come on. We can talk as we swim. You don't have long."
