Dear All,

Thanks to a wonderful woman named Marianna, that is an FML member and
saw my post, the rescue was accomplished. The gentleman that owned the
ferret was quite distraught at giving up his young ferret named Junior.
There was apparently a misunderstanding between Junior's dad and his
landlord regarding owning a pet, and dad and Junior lost. It was a
tearful surrender, but accomplished with great sensitivity by Marianna.
I'd arranged various legs of a transport to get the ferret from St.
Mary's County, MD., to Rocky's in Northern Baltimore Co. However, upon
speaking with Marianna, she expressed interest in Junior, as well him
helping to mend a recent ache in her heart. After interviewing her, I
was convinced that a direct placement was a wonderful option for all.
She's a great farent! As difficult as this situation was, something
good has come of it, Marianna and I have made our acquaintance.
Hopefully she will be able to visit one day soon! Thank you Marianna
for all your help to me, Junior's dad, and especially Junior! I hope
you have many wonderful years together!

I'd like to thank Kathy Fritz for her kind words too. I sure that we
all can work through this very difficult dump season and find some
wonderful homes for all these kids. Over the last 12 years I've always
taken pride that Rocky's has had so many families with kids involved. A
few years back I added a question to my interview process where a young
teen was to be the primary in caring for the ferrets I placed. The
question to both child and parents; What will you be doing in 6 - 10
years from now? WIll the ferret you love today be as much a part of
your life then? Then we discuss what goes on in the near future years
with after school activities, work, college, etc. They need to project
as best they can. Of course, life does hold changes, but dealing with
what's predictable helps in making the forever commitment.

Affectionately,
Barb Clay
