Last night after all the trick-or-treaters had gone, we had turned out
the lights and were settling down to watch TV. The doorbell rang. We
thought it was more trick-or-treaters, but it was two girls and their
father. They had been heading home after making their candy rounds and
found a ferret running down the street.

One of our neighbors sent them our way, thinking that it may be one of
ours. Luckily, it wasn't. He was scared, but otherwise unharmed. We
told the girls and their father that we have an extra cage and could
keep him while we tried to find his home.

Upon a quick exam, we found that he was pretty flea-covered. He got
some Advantage and a cage was set up out in the garage for the evening.
Lots of warm bedding, food (which he dove right into) and clean water.

Will be making calls to vets/animal hospital and posting signs in the
corner grocery store and pharmacy. Any other suggestions would be
welcome.

Also, for how long should I keep him quarantined. Obviously til the
fleas are gone, but beyond that? Hopefully, we'll find his home very
soon so we don't have to worry about that.

Mine got an extra hug last night because they were safe and sound in
their hammies. I would be frantic.
