Yesterdays 4/5/99 Boston Globe had a column by Lou Bendrick called
Cross-Country Journal. In it he told about a pet library in Telluride
which is run by the "Rocky Mountain Ark Wildlife Rehabilitation Center"

For $5 and after taking a quiz about animal care and signing a liability
waiver, the potential adoptee gets a membership card which allows them to
check out one of about 40 pets for a week. Each comes with a book on care
a cage where appropriate and a weeks supply of food. After 20 checkouts
they are eligible to adopt one of the pets.

Pets include several rabbits, turtles, a milk snake named Attila, Chainsaw
the teddy bear hamster, Gizmo the guinea pig, and a black rat named Howard
Stern. One of the favorites is Mr. Limousine ( a stretch limo) who is said
to be 'very frisky'.
