Welcome to the list.  I am a newbie as well, but I also own a couple of
snakes and a ferret.  Even though my ferret is fairly new, I can say this,
DO NOT take the snakes out while the ferret is out and always watch the
snakes.  I, unfortunately, have to keep the snakes and the ferret in the
same room, and this is very discomforting at times.  I tried to feed my
snake on the floor yesterday and it went nuts.  After it constricted the
mouse, it started looking for something else!  Ferret beware.  Anyway, as
long as you are safe about it and don't let them get too close to each other
(i.e., never out at the same time as the carpet-skarks), things should be
OK.  E-mail me if you want to talk ferrets and snakes some more.
