Question about ferrets in California:

Is all this stuff about ferrets being illegal in California all
just silly stuff? I know someone who now has a bunch of ferrets
in California. He/she says that if anyone sees the ferrets, law
enforcement can come and take them away. But that they will tell
you where you can get them back, wink-wink. No problem No danger
to the ferrets. You just drive somewhere and pick them up.

Is this true?
