No more potatoes stashed all over the house...no more sandles stashed inside
her cage...7 orphan kits without a mom...our best friend has crossed the
Rainbow bridge!!!

I all happen so fast. April had lost some weight the last few days...not
unusual with nursing and raising an almost 6 week old litter. Monday
morning she didn't look good at all. She was out and about running around
the house as she has every day since she has been old enough to walk. When
we called her she would not come. This is not like her at all. We started
searching the house and could not find her. I had to leave for work in the
mean time. Telling hubby and son, please call me as soon as u find her. I
got a page shortly after I arrived at work. She didn't look good at all.
After a call to the vet I returned home to go get her. She was in bad shape
by time we got to the vet. Her body temp was way below normal, she started
showing fur loss, dehydrated, would not eat or take any water. April was
left at the vets while I returned to work. I was to be back at 5 PM. I
dreaded every phone call at the office...fearing the worst. When I returned
the vet took me into an office. We talked and all she could come up with
was low blood sugar. April's body temp was back to normal, and she seamed
alert. I was given instructions to go in with sugar water, keep up the
Nutri-Cal, and keep her warm. I was to call the vet in the morning. The
vet had given her fluids, a steroyed shot, and put her on anitibiotics. I
forced some sugar water and a little bit of Nutri-Cal, and kept her at my
side. By 6:30 PM she took a turn downhill. By 7:30 PM she started with
convultions and died at 7:50 PM. As I'm writing this the keyboard is
swimming away in my tears...I loved her soooo much!!! She will be missed by
soo many... This one little ferret brought soo much joy to soo many people.
She was so attached to my 12 yr old...she always went up his sleeve and
nibbled on his arms. We both burried her in the back yard Monday night.
Friday we will plant a minature red rose bush on her grave. God this is
hard!!!

I now will continue to raise her litter for her. All 7 kits are big, fat,
and healthy. Two little girls I know I will keep...maybe more...time will
tell. No one can replace our sweet April, she will remain in our thoughts
for ever. I have lots of pictures of her...doing funny things and making us
laugh for hours on end.

Thanks for listening...
