(couldn't think of a better subject...Can't remember the poster's name, etc.)
 
Yes, I think that day/weekend was an aberration.  My two ferrets are
definately not biters...The male bites, usually playfully, but not as
you decribed Otto being...The female doesn't bite at all.  Except the male
ferret when playing.  My ferrets are from two different pet stores, and
I believed their living conditions to be adequate, except the one place
used cedar bedding for their kits, something I wouldn't do.  The female
I have was only at the pet store to be sold because one of their workers
owned her and was leaving for school.  Both are doing quite well, even though
my husband thought the male was dead earlier...Just a very sound sleeper,
apparently.  Guess all I'm trying to say is, try again...There are too
many of us on this list that have had GOOD experiences with ferrets for
the situations you encountered to be the norm.  I cannot recommend places
to go, I'm not in the area...If you're ever in the Cleveland area...
