I can certainly attest that my vet, Dr. Douglas Folland in Centerville,
Utah, makes sure the tables are disinfected, and that his hands are washed.
I personally feel I have nothing to fear from his sanitation procedures.

On another note, Pato, my pampered spoiled boy, surprised his Mommy YET
AGAIN yesterday. It was time for playtime. I let Hubert and Snowball
out of their cage. Then, I opened the cage to let Pato and Elsie out. I
picked Elsie up and put her down to play. Then, as I stood up and turned
to get Pato - SPROING!!!!!!!! Pato LEAPED out of the cage, all four little
legs spread eagled and landed smack on my FACE - his chin on my forehead,
each front arm grabbing the side of my head and his little back ferret legs
around my jaw by my mouth with the feet (and claws, I might add) firmly
anchored in my ears.

Rememeber the scene in the first "Alien" movie, where the alien suddenly
sprung up and anchored itself on that guys face (the guy who's chest it
later came charging out of and making a real bloody scene at the
table......?) and they had a helluva time getting the thing off? Well,
that's just how I felt.

I'm still recovering from deviated septum surgery (on a side note - if
a doctor ever says "You will feel a little discomfort after surgery" -
translate that to IT'S GONNA HURT LIKE HELL!) and it's amazing the pain a
flying 2 1/4 pound ferret can make upon impact when his leap was only ONE
FOOT long or so.......... and it lands right on your
not-that-long-ago-operated-on-nose.
