Any hair ball remedy for cats/kittens is Okay to use.  I use Laxistat or
Petromalt.  I use 1/2 inch daily when I'm guarding against shedding, 1/2 inch
several times a day if I really think something naughty has been swallowed,
and 1/2 inch a week as a preventative.
 
Depends of the size of the ferret too sometimes.  Watch out for skinny poops -
sure sign something is not right.
