        Hi,

Having just spent the last 35 minutes plowing through the Ferret
List for the 11th, I am amazed at how little I seem to know about ferrets
and there care. I learned that my pet store bought babies will die in 5
years, that Totoally Ferret food will turn their coats orange and that
cedar chips are bad for them. WOW! What other awful things don't I know
yet?

My question is regarding the cedar chips. I place them in the
bottom of the cage, under a grate-like thing (hard to explain, sorry) and
the boys never actually sleep in it, eat it, or touch it. Is this still
bad? Is their air contaminated now? What should I put in the bottom of the
cage? (They DO have a litter box and they sleep in old, ripped up towels.)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

A newly worried ferret mom of two,

                                  Cathy
