Dear Ferret Friends,

Marilyn here, and when I travel with my crew. I put the carrier in the
front seat, run the seat belt through the handle on the top and into
the catch. Sort of like a person sitting there. The part that crosses
your lap is around the front of the carrier. I keep the water bottle in
the coffee cup holder, upside down, and offer the ferret a drink
whenever. That way we do not arrive at the vets in a puddle.

Then there is the matter of lunch. My little guys are hungry so Mom,
before we left home, took a small plastic medicine bottle with a
screw cap, you can buy them at the drug store where they dispense
prescriptions, full of Alicia of Ferretwise's soup. We take a paper
towel, tissue, and the dish. Before we leave home, I fill the bottle
with soup and put it in the, ah front of my blouse. It fits snug and
by the time I drive 45 minutes to the vet, wait for the appointment,
and get it over with, the soup is body temp. After the visit, in the
waiting room, I take the place mat (paper towel) spread it out on top
of the carrier. Then I put out the dish, the napkin (tissue to whip the
whiskers) beside the dish, and reach in and get my bottle. I pour the
soup in, reach in and get the ferret, stand it on top of the carrier
and we have a nice warm lunch.

When we are done, I pack up the dish, bottle, and accessories, strap
the carrier back in the car and we go home.

We have a few Rules of the Road.

The ferrets need sit in front because they like the classical music.
Nearer the radio - yes it has to be classical because they like it
that way.

You are welcome to ride with me - but you have to ride in the back.

There are no stops between my house and the Vet. I have a fasting
ferret in front and he cannot eat until we see the Vet, so that is
first.

When we come out, I do not leave them alone in the car so if you are
shopping, you must shop fast.

If you think I'm making to much of my ferret, and he is only an animal
and you are people, you are correct.

Because he is challenged, he cannot speak our language, he has more
rights than you do.

Still not happy - take the bus.
