Since the topics of the day are numbered, I wanted to know if it was
possible for you to number each of the messages.  Sometimes I don't want
to read each message and it would be easier to know where I am when I am
scrolling through.

[Moderator's note: It's a very popular suggestion :-)  The short answer is
that the index refers to topics and may not reflect the number of posts
(e.g. 3 posts with the same subject will only appear once in the index).
It's also against the "digest standard" specified in some RFC or another.
 
But, as I've said before, I agree it would be nice.  Maybe some day, once
I'm finish getting all the archives into the search engine, I'll take a
closer look.  Won't be real soon though... sorry.  BIG]
