KEEP EYE ON FERRETS

To the editor:

We see ferrets listed in your paper in the classifieds under "Pets and
Supplies." I happened to be in a vet's office in Greensboro some time ago
when a woman came in bringin an innocent, sweet little guinea pig. A
ferret had eaten its eyes out. I write this to warn other who have
puppies, kittens and yes, babies: Keep them securely away from
ferrets.

Here is the paper's letters policy:

"The News & Record welcomes letters from readers on subjects of general
interest. Letters must include your home street address and a phone number
where we can reach you during the day. Keep your letter to no more than
250 words. We reserve the right to edit letters for length and clarity.
Letters that are concise and to the point, typed and double-spaced have the
best chance of early publication.

"Send your letters to Letters to the Editor, Greensboro News & Record, P.O.
Box 20848, Greensboro [NC] 27420. Letters may be faxed to (919) 373-7067.
If you have a question about your letter, call 373-7037."

Let's see if we can do something about this "dangerous ferret" myth.
