Oh yes, rabbits will growl. I was petsitting two rabbits and a dog once,
and one of the rabbits actually attacked me. I had let the rabbits out
in their respective rooms for some exercise, and when I went into the one
room, the fuzzy, cuddly-looking, lop-eared bunny wabbit suddenly became
Mr. Ferocious Man-Eating Killer Rabbit (with BIG SHARP POINTY TEETH!!).
He started by growling and charging me, and when that didn't work, he
charged again, right up to my legs, and scratched and bit. He did leave
two bruised welts on my shins because I refused to back down from a
rabbit (I threatened to make rabbit stew for supper but he was
unimpressed). He was so fast I couldn't tell if the welts were from his
claws or his teeth. I had to get a bath towel from the bathroom and drop
it over him in order to pick him up and get him back in his cage. He ran
to the far end, turned, and charged the door as I was closing it. He
then spent the next half hour shaking the cage door with his teeth and
claws. He really did not like the stranger in his territory.

He was calm and adorable as long as his owners were around. He only
turned into Mr. Hyde when they left.

How long before they start including a laugh track in the "CBS Evening
