In reading your response to Lisette, it is clear to me that if there
was never a sanctioned program for the money she solicited, you had no
business cashing the checks people donated for that purpose.  I have no
doubt that you do a lot of wonderful things for hundreds of ferrets each
year, and it may be that some of the people who donated money for cages
would be willing to forego getting a refund from you.  But you owe it to
your donors and your own credibility to either make good on the program
or refund donations to those who want them.
