Hi Danielle : )

The show is THE CHRONICLE. It's a new series, and actually, very good.
The setting is an alternative N.Y.C. newspaper called World Chronicle,
which is similar to The Weekly World News or Enquirer. The series is
based on "News From the Edge", which I think is a group of short stories.
The episodes are well written, good characters that have depth, and good
blend of mystery, strange happenings and humor. This past week's episode
had news from the mother of the female, lead character (Grace), with the
sad news that her pet ferret passed away. Grace said she had the ferret
since she was in Jr. High. I figured if this character Grace is in her
early 20s, then the ferret would have been approx. 8 or 9 yrs. old.

Anyway, the mother had the ferret cremated, and sent the ashes to Grace.
Grace sprinkled her ferret's ashes in Central Park, and felt peaceful that
her ferret was at peace. The other characters treated the matter with
sympathy. Since we didn't even know Grace had a pet ferret before this
episode, some of us are wondering if someone on the show may actually have
just lost a pet ferret, and that was worked into the script as a sort of
memorial.
