The double dot ear tattoos identifies the ferret as a "Marshall Farms
Ferret."  One dot means the ferret was fixed and the other dot means the
ferret was descented.  If the ferret was registered with Marshall Farms
after purchase, then the owner was given a birth certificate and the
ferret was guaranteed free of congenital defects for the first year of
life.
