Hello, everyone.

Okay, if there's a subject that's been driven into the ground, this is
probably it. But I'm absolutely desperate about what to do and need any
advice possible.

To recap, I have two ferrets, a male 1 1/2 and a female 1 yr. In their
cage they have a litter box and use it regularly. But I think it's more
that they're used to going in that spot, not in the litter. When I have
them running around, there's certain spots they regularly go to the
bathroom. Sometimes I lock them up in my bathroom when I can't have them
running around, just to get them out of their cage. I have a litter box
in there in a corner they like to use.

Usually they're pretty good about using that box, as it's the same kind
as in their cage. But yesterday I went in there after they had been in
there for a while and found accidents. One of them had urinated in the
litter, another one had urinated near the box, and someone had deficated
near it. It seems as if their litter training is degenerating. The
female, Maija, is at the point where she won't even make a try to get to
the litter box. She'll go where ever she happens to be. It's getting
very annoying, and I'm not sure what to do. The problem is getting
worse, not better.

Urine and stools are normal, so I'm pretty sure it's not a medical
problem. Any other hints? I'm very desperate to stop this, and
frustrated. But they're still so darn cute! Help please?
