I may remember incorrectly but I thought the original emailer said her
ferret was under vet care.
 
I learned about pumpkin when my male ferret had gotten ill and was on
several meds for an illness that left him thin and dehydrated.  He was
hydrated by the vet and I feared of his losing precious liquid during
this delicate time, because of his very loose stools.  I learned about
pumpkin from a health ferret group and it helped firm them.
Unfortunately later, he had to be opened up and and found to have
intestinal cancer.
 
Though I feed my ferrets the same food, I have a black-eyed white female
ferret that occasional has very loose stools.  During her first year, she
was very thin and did a projectile throw up alot.  The vet found nothing
wrong with her.  She was and is quite healthy looking.  If she goes more
than 2 days of loose stools, I will give her a little pumpkin.  It
doesn't happen alot.  Since she isn't under vet care (I agee that at any
signs of illness, see vet), I would give her the pumpkin for 1-2 days,
no longer.  I want to know if she is ill.  So far, so good.
