I was just watching the documentary "Living Britain" on the ABC. It's a
four part series, with each episode about one of the seasons. This episode
was about the spring. It had a male polecat in rut, and described how he
spent his time following the scent of females in heat. No doubt leaving a
yellow trail behind him... Later it showed a female polecat in her den with
her kits, and described how she reared them alone. The kits were very cute
(naturally!), and they were shown playing with each other.

I will be watching next week to see if the summer episode features any more
mustelids!
