Hi, everyone: been too busy to post in a awhile, but my heart went out to
the owner on this question of whether your ferret hates you.

Assuming you're not wearing some offensive perfume or something (*grin*),
it's far more likely that you have a kit or young adult between the ages of
about 2 months and 1 or 2 years. Someone once wrote that the kit has two
modes: fast and very fast (or, very fast and off). Frequently they don't
like being held because it wastes valuable play time.

The ferret, like good scotch, mellows with age. I have dedicated lap
ferrets who were completely horrified by the prospect of cuddling when they
were kits. "Cuddle? NOW? It's play-time!" If you play with them on their
own rough-and-tumble terms (dragging a towel, tickle fights, whatever) and
treat them at appropriate intervals, they're likely to warm to you over time.

        Peace,
        Otter
