Sandra,
Let them have supervised play time and scold the pup if it does anything you
do not feel is safe. If the dog learns at a young age what you expect from
it then you should have no problems. As most will tell you, there will
always be a slight risk to allowing them to be around each other. We have 3
ferrets, 3 dogs and 3 cats that are all allowed to play together if we are
around. The ferrets dominate everyone!!! I have learned more on how to
handle an agressive cat from the ferrets than any person has shown me. The
#3 dog is a 17 week old labrador pup that I have had for about 5 or 6 weeks.
When she first came to our house she wanted to play with the ferrets very
rough, now she has two scars on her muzzle and a healthy respect for the
Ferrets. SHe has learned through my actions and the ferret actions that
they are Alpha over her.
