I must be one sick puppy, I'll tell you what. See what a good
southerner I am? I ended the sentence with "tell you what".
Scott and I went into Target to get a movie for the family and to scan
the isles for Easter goodies for Sean. We picked up the movie, took all
but five minutes looking for Easter things, then found ourselves in the
toy department. Was this to reminisce about when our boys were little?
To imagine what it would have been like to have such cool stuff for
them way back when? Were we there to dream about the day of hearing the
sounds of tiny feet going pitter-pat from grand babies some day? Maybe
we were there to be our saintly selves to buy toys for the poor. The
answer to every one of those questions is a big, fat, no. So why did
we spend over half an hour in Target's tiny toy section?
Because we are sick puppies that is why.
"Omg, Love! Look! A ferret sized "cat"-apult!"
"Wow, would that make the best photos with the babies or what?!"
"No, no, I could load it with balls, no wait ... treats, and shoot
them across the room for them."
"You are so brilliant, Scott."
"Look at these, sigh ... I can't believe you can buy a whole set of
Weeble-like toys for under five bucks. Do you remember how expensive
they were when Chet was little?"
"Oh yeah, it was a big deal when we finally got them for him. Remember
how Snowball loved the Weeble house? Boy the ferrets would love these
... they have texture and plastic clothes on them now for them to grip.
GASP! Better yet, the birds! Omg, can you imagine how Sunny (cockatiel)
and Tika (cockatoo) would be with those?"
"Check ... it ... out! A remote control jeep ... wow, Sunny would love
that! I could drive him all over the place"
"Look look look!!!! An RC spider! That would dive Pharos nuts!"
"Pfft, Blacky would kill it. Asta LaVista, baby!"
"Awe, look, a teensy, red, Radio Flyer wagon ... I'm so glad we got
one. Where you goin?"
"Baby section ... omg. Can you imagine Sunny with these light up
boards? Look, all you have to do is touch them to activate them."
"Whatever. This is deaf ferret heaven right here."
"What are those."
"Awesome! Oh wow. Everybody would like these. Their Go-Go balls or
something like that. They're little, chunky toy cars that spin around
inside of plastic balls when you roll them across the floor. Woa, I
love these... I gotta go tell the FML." As we obliviously stroll past
boys clothing, TV's, video games, foot balls, and candy ... "Why can't
we win a shopping spree, ya know?"
"Yeah, think of what we could get ..."
