I know that many of you have experience in travelling with ferrets by
airplane. I have two questions about this. The first one is regarding
the JFK NY airport. I know that in New York city, ferrets are illegal,
but does anybody knows what happens if your flight arrives to their airport
and you go through customs carring a ferret? Is it possible that they may
take it away from you? In my case I am travelling from Mexico City and I
need to go to Hartford, CT, but I have to stop at Atlanta airport and the
whole trip takes about 8 hours, so is very long for a ferret, so I would
like to take a direct flight from Mexico City to New York that takes 4.5
hours and once there, some friends can pick me up at the airport and we
can drive to CT. This could be a good option to make the trip easier for
my ferret, but I don't want to take any risk that he may be confiscated
in NY.

The other question is how does ferrets take airplane trips, are they
very scared from the turbine noise? Is there something that ca n be done
for keeping them calm and comfortable? I will travel by Delta, so I will
keep him with me in cabin, but I guess he has to stay closed into his pet
carrier all the flight. I will appreciate very much any suggestion you
can give me and if somebody has experience at NY airport customs, that
will be very useful for me to know too.

Kisses and hugs to all your fuzzies!

Best regards,
Caterina and Gigio
