Hello...

I lurk here a lot, and I see lots of shelters asking for help, which I
WANT to do...

I have a lot of time on my hands (due to a flare up of ulcerative colitis
which means I can't work, but that's another story) but not a whole lot
of money.

I have, at my disposal, a regular sewing machine as well as my friend's
really cool serger, and a few days ago I was given about 5 boxes of
fabric. including a box of fleece, and a box of fake fur. Basically,
I now have the time and the supplies to make things for ferrets, that I
can send to shelters...which leads me to the point of this post:

I am looking for instructions on making good-looking hammocks,
sleepsacks, and other ferrety things.

I could easily throw something together, but I want to make these to look
professional/high quality, so the shelters can sell them for needed cash
if they choose.

I have -moderate- sewing experience, but my friend with the serger has
been sewing for decades and has offered to teach me beyond the basics.
I'm hoping for details such as the best way to make the corners for
straps, the best straps, what NOT to add to a ferret bed, and so on. I
could just buy a nice one off of ebay, but like I said I have no money.

Also, I got sent one of those crocheted plastic eggs in a card exchange,
and I've gotten to see it once--when I opened the package...I gave it to
FatBoy, and I haven't seen it since! I do hear him rattling it every
night, though--he adores it, and whenever another furkid gets it out of
his hideyhole, he GETS IT BACK!!!

I would love to know details on how to make those too, if anyone wants to
give any hints..Crocheting is another thing I can do but I'm not at much
more than a basic level...I ad-libbed and made an absoulutely hideous
one, which was dragged off into the cage to be slept on, so I have a
grasp of how to do it, I am just hopig for a few pointers.

I did search the archives, but didn't really find what I was looking
for...

thanks!
