I buried him today. Had some friends there to say goodbye. We put him
with some other ferrets and pets we have buried in the past, so he is
in good company.

I had found a vet not too far away who could do the operation at a
reasonable cost, and we were going to take him in Monday.

Saturdays morning, I woke to him making little whinny noises, and when I
tried to comfort him with Ferretone and hairball medicine, he would take
neither.

That's when I knew we needed to go to the vet.

He found a tumor, about the size of a half dollar....said he could give
me something to make him comfortable for a bit more time if I liked, but
that was all.

Now, I have never been one to prolong the life of my babies if there is
nothing that will keep them alive with ANY sort dignity and comfort, so
I decided since this was not going to be the case, the best thing for
him was to let him go.

I held him while he was given the shot, and after as he drifted away.
I told him how much I loved him and would miss him....and how much his
cagemate Charlie would miss him too.

Charlie has been so protective of him the last few months, making sure
he is alright when I put Kis in the hammock, and sleeping on top of Kis
to make sure he is warm.

I plan to let him say goodbye in a little while. I know he will want
to know Kismet is gone.

Thanks to everyone who wrote, and gave advice and encouragement and love.
We both appreciated it so much. He was a very specially little guy and I
miss him something fierce right now, and will for quite awhile, I know.

I was very privileged to have known him and had him in my life, even if
it was for such a short time.

Blessed Be,
Debra & Charlie
