Subject: our new baby Stewie that needs prayers

A friend of mine took in this little boy about a week ago. He has been
badly neglected. Basically just shoved off to the side, never let out
of the cage, rarely had food or water. They say he is 2 years old, I
dont believe that, I am thinking at least 4 to 5 years old. He is a
silver mitt, and so sweet. Poor little guy does not know what to think
about getting loved on. He is bald on his belly, some on his back and
thin on his neck and head. He is thin but his belly feels kind of tight
to me. He has no muscle mass in his hind legs and you can tell he is
a little weak in his back legs. Not sure if this is from never being
out of the cage and weak muscle or we have something more going on.
He is not wobbly but I have this feeling there is a good chance of
insulinoma. He is not very active, he will play a little but does not
last long and is ready for a nap. He eats kibble pretty good and drinks
tons of water, which again makes me insulinoma is involved, With the
hair loss I am sure adrenal is there too. Poor baby looked as if he had
never had his ears cleaned or nails cut. Surprisingly his poos dont
look that bad, a little loose but not to bad considering everything
else. His gums are nice and pink and so are the pads on his feet. He
does have that tired look in his eyes but not that look like its time,
just that he is weak, neglected, and very malnutrition. I am hoping
this little guy has a chance. I am taking him Monday for a blood work
and see what else we have going on here. I did notice after he pees he
dribbles some. So I am wondering if that is age or prostate along with
the adrenal.

This is just heart breaking and I pray I can turn him around. I need to
get him on good protein, help build up the muscle in his back legs, and
show this poor baby there are people that will love him. If any one has
any suggestions, please send them my way. Every time I look at him I
just cry, but I think we have a chance but not sure he is on borrowed
time or not.

I am going to post some pictures of Stewie, I need to log into the
group to do so.
