This is part of the artical:
>This is just a brief summary on why we are only scratching the surface
>with trying to domesticate wild animals such as the prairie dog, ferrets
>and snakes. We are not yet prepared to handle new diseases, and actions
>that happen when new pets revert back to their wild state.

This was my reply to the nasty ferret artical.

This is another prime example of someone not taking the time to research
their facts before they make a fool of themselves. Ferrets have been
domesticated for the last 2000 years and make wonderful pets. Mustela
putorius furo, the pet ferret IS NOT A WILD ANIMAL!!! We in the ferret
community are sick and tired of having to state this case over and over
again. Please do us a favuor and have your 'outdoor writer' write about
deer, bears, and other wild animals you folks like to murder, and LEAVE
OUR PET FERRETS ALONE!!!!
