It is with sad hearts that we've had to put one of our older ferrets to
sleep today. He was chronically ill and most recently has had a poor
quality of life... it was his time to go. Unfortunately, this very sad
time for us was made even more difficult by the $120 vet fee charged to
us for the euthanasia. I think this amount is outrageous. I understand
that vets have to pay for overhead and education and make a living also
but who can afford that kind of money, especially when paying for food
and health care for several other live ferrets?

I love ferrets and find great joy in having them around. Unfortunately,
I will not be getting any more. It hurts too much to lose them and it
costs too much in vet bills to keep them. I guess that makes us all
losers: me, the vets, and the ferrets who could have used a loving
home.
