RE: The person wanting to make their ferrets "last days" good.
 
 I think, if there is no hope of recovery, then the most humane thing
to do is have the ferret put to sleep. You say it went from several
pounds down to around one. I think it cruel to watch a pet
waste away. Sure, it is easier said than done I agree, but keeping the
pet around for "our" benefit is [in my opinon] terrible. You never
mentioned what was wrong with your ferret, are you sure it is terminal?

 Weight loss [*fat*] is quite common with zinc. You just have to make
sure that you don't give it too much. 8-)
