Hi all,
Imagine my surprise when I spoke to my vet this morning and learned that indeed
Butler Co., OH is a FFZ! (I forget who is keeping the FFZ list current, but
please add this to the list.) The county has just recently started to warn pet
stores that they can no longer sell ferrets. To make a long story somewhat
shorter, my vet (who is very active politically) said that the law has been on
the books for years but was never really enforced. However, the vets in the
county are trying to change the law because they would like to legally provide
healthcare and vaccinations, etc. So, because of their efforts to change the
law, the county has started to quietly enforce the law. (Go figure.)

Of course, I've been a ferret person in a FFZ for six years now, totally un-
knowingly. My vet's advice was to stay quiet and let the legislation process
work itself out. Unfortunately, my landlady (who knows about and likes the
fuzzies) has made an appt. for the housing inspector to inspect our humble
abode tomorrow morning. My vet and I both think that it shouldn't be a problem
but ... well, there is always the possibility. So, everyone please think happy
thoughts in our direction (visualizing, if you will, a ferret-loving housing
inspector), and I'll keep you all up to date on what I hear about future pro-
gress here in progressive (NOT) SW Ohio.
