Hi everyone. I just got my first ferrets a few months ago. <I went from
famine to feast.> i got two babies, Fred and Wilma <g>. they are both
about 3 months old now and are great. 3 weeks ago i got word from an ex
coworker that she had a ferret that she was looking to give to a good home
as she was majorly allergic to it, I adopted him, now named Dino. <see
any patterns here?> Dino, at best guess is about 5 years old, and albino.
here's my problem. after the first day or so, Dino would run back into his
cage whenever I'd let them out to play. i assumed he as just depressed and
would come out of it after he got accustomed to his new surroundings. last
weekend I picked him up and he was almost skin and bones. I then realized
he wasn't really eating anything. I took him to the vet on Sunday. he
doesn't see anything majorly wrong with him. he was put on a vitamin
supplement, and some antibiotics, but i still do not see him eating much.
the vet suggested baby food, but he barely touches it. Last night i put
him back in his old cage, hoping that would get him out of his funk, and
this am i did find him eating a bit. the question is, is there any trick i
an use to get him to eat more. I'm real concerned about his weight loss
<the babies weigh more than he does.>
any suggestions?
