Jason, pass on multiple copies of the Compendium for Animal Rabies Control
to your city politics and beaurocrats (sp). You can copy it from the first
edition of JAVMA each year or go to:
http://www.avma.org/pubhlth/default.htm#rab
Put pointers on ALL the section which list ferrets, dogs and cats the same
way!!!!

Also, call your health dept and have them help you contact your State
Public Health Veterinarian in Charge of Rabies Policy. Get a letter from
that person and include it in the packet.

In addition go to:
http://www.cdc.gov/epo/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00056176.htm
and copy that, attaching a note pointing out that the ACIP Human Rabies
Document has NOT contained any anti-ferret warnings since 1991, and that
the CDC was extensively involved in the extremely thorough testing which
has been done in relation of ferrets and rabies and which led to the
changes in the Compendium of Animal Rabies Control (originally altered by
vote of membership in early November 1997 and changes first appearing in
the 1998 Compendium).

THIS IS USEFUL INFORMATION FOR EVERY FERRET PERSON TO HAVE ON FILE so,
please, keep this letter or -- better -- get the documents and keep those,
Everyone!
