This is in response to Ed Crist and why AFA does not recognize Galaxy-D as
an appropriate ferret vaccine.
The AFA only recognizes vaccines that have been USDA approved and labeled
for use in ferrets. At this time there are only two vaccines that have
been USDA challenged and USDA proven effective. These are Fervac-D for
canine distemper and IMRAB-3 for rabies.
When you feed you ferret cat food, cat statistics rise. When you give your
ferret canine only labeled vaccines, canines statistics rise. In order for
ferret statistics to rise, we really need to use ferret specific products.
Only then will product and vaccine manufacturers take notice that ferrets
and their owners are a valuable and marketable group that should be
recognized. Only then will other alternatives be developed with ferrets
in mind.
