A few weeks ago I posted asking for suggestions on what I could use to
remove hardened poops from my hardwood floors. (My little angle, Matt
found an alternate spot to use as a potty spot that I didn't discover
quick enough)
I got more responses from people asking me to post what ever suggestions I
get than I got suggestions. Here are the suggestions I got....
* Hardwood floors are the best places to use this trick. Use some 409 or
Windex and thoroughly spray the area and leave alone. Go back later (about
1/2 hour later) and spray again. Repeat until deposit is soft enough to
lift off with a putty knife. You could also use a solution of 1/4 cup Mr.
Clean and 3/4 cup water and pour it on a little at a time, then scrub with
a stiff nylon brush. Add more mixture as needed until the entire spot is
cleaned. I've used both methods and been very successful with them! :)
Oh...this also works with no-wax floors!
* Oxi Clean is the orange cleaning product you have probably seen several
million times on cable. If you would like to go to their web site, it is
www.greatcleaners.com
* I have used murphy's oil soap quite successfully on the hardened spots
that don't come up right away. I put a dollop on the offending area and
wait until it is soft. Then I just pick it up with some toilet paper.
The oil soap will also condition the floor at the same time.
I opted for the last suggestion since I had Murphy's oil soap in the house.
It worked like a charm. The most important thing I can suggest --- lock up
the fuzzies when you are doing this. I think my biggest problem doing this
cleanup was that the nosey ferrets wouldn't let me give the spots a chance
to soak. As soon as they would run over to see what I was doing, I'd start
mopping up the cleaner. The Murphy's worked in a few minutes, with the
ferrets watching safely from their cage!
I'd also like to point out that 2 of these three great tips were sent to me
my men. So much for the stereotypes!
Thanks everyone for the help!
