Hello everyone,
My name is Kalaine and I am from NJ. I am an occasional poster, but I read
the FML everyday. I have two fuzzies aged 2, Jezzy-belle and Taz-arina. I
started reading the FML in Dec. when both my girls came down w/ ECE. They
are doing fine now.
I was just wondering if anyone who uses 8 in 1 treats has ever came across
a problem w/ the triangular shaped treat getting caught in the top of their
fuzzies mouth. The treats come in a can w/ a blue top. I had the problem
w/ Taz first. I though it was bec. she was smaller than Jezzy and her
mouth was tiny. Yesterday Jezzy got a piece caught in her mouth. The
girls freak out like they are choking on the treat. They try to scratch
the treat out.
I had to scruff Jezzy and push the food forward (out of her mouth not
towards the back of her throat) I didn't want her to push it back and
really start choking on it. I always wonder what I will do if they really
get something stuck. I wonder if there is a ferret heimlick (probably
spelled wrong) maneuver.
I have noticed that the people who make 8 in 1 have added a new treat
shape. It is made of the same stuff as the triangle piece, but it is
shaped like a star. Taz avoids the triangles and goes for all the stars
(smart fuzzie).
I just wanted to write this little note to make sure people watch their
little guys and girls when they eat this particular treat. I used to leave
some in their cage in the morning when I left for work, so they wouldn't
think they were being punished. Now, I only let them have that treat when
I am watching them.
I hope everyone is doing well
Kalaine, Jezzy and Taz
