Hello,

I almost never post about ferrets for adoption, but I have 6 special needs
ferrets currently in the shelter, 3 of whom have been here over a year, and
they really need a home. I go to school full time, work full time, and run
the shelter, and I just can not give these guys the special care they need.
I am slowly closing down the shelter over the next 9 months before I have
to move to go to vet school, so I am not desperate yet, but I feel bad for
these guys, they really need extra attention that I just don't have the
time to give. There is no adoption fee for any of these ferrets, you just
need to be able to convince me that you are an experienced ferret owner
that will be able to give these guys a good home and the time and attention
they need and deserve. In regards to location, I am located in Hastings,
Nebraska, but perhaps Ferrets across America could help with the
transportation. Otherwise, I can drive 8 hours in any direction over
Christmas break to meet someone. The special need ferrets that I have for
adoption are:

Oreo, Snowflake, and Karissa - Oreo is a very pretty sable female about 3
1/2 yrs old. She has been known to nip on occasion, but is usually pretty
good. Snowflake is a 4 year old albino female. She is very sweet
tempered, but has severe congestion in her lungs that so far has resisted 2
different antibiotics. We are trying one more, and then will try a fungal
medication if this one doesn't work. She has had this congestion for quite
a while, and while it hasn't gotten worse, it won't get better. Do ferrets
get cystic fibrosis? (Just half kidding) Karissa is a 4 year old sable
female who had surgery last summer for a right sided adrenal. The vet who
did the surgery was not real experienced, so he just debulked it. She just
started to grow back all of her hair last month. Karissa is also a
sweetie, but she has a bad habit of trying to climb up pant legs. These
girls have all been in the shelter over a year, and they do all go
together.

Critter - Critter is a beautiful blaze female about 3 years old. Critter
was found living outside in a trailer court. She was filthy, and one eye
was swollen shut. Critter is also deaf. Critter is now a healthy girl
physically, but she will bite at any hand that comes near her. I believe
she is still just very scared and distrustful, and with a lot of love,
patience, and TLC, she could turn into a sweetie. Critter will need
someone who isn't afraid to get bitten once in awhile, and who is very
patient and has time and attention for her.

Noel and Chase - Noel is a pudgy 1 year old black eyed white ferret. He
originally came into the shelter from a local pet store because he had a
prolapsed rectum. Their vet put a stitch in it (!!!), but he wasnt'
getting any better, so they felt they couldn't sell him. I put him on a
course of antibiotics, after checking for parasites, which took care of the
problem. However, for a 1 year old, Noel acts like a 6 year old. He is
overweight, and has very slow digestion, which was shown with a barium
x-ray. I cannot find any reason for it. Slow metabolism? He is an
absolute sweetheart. Chase is a 3 yr old very hyper chocolate female.
She is a play biter, and came in because her owner just didn't like her
anymore. These two have been in the shelter for over 9 months and they do
go together.

If anyone would be interested in any of these fuzzies, please e-mail me
with why you feel you could provide a good home, why you want to adopt
them, and where you are located.

Dooks and kisses to your fuzzies,
Shelley Knudsen
