[and others in the thread - no this is not about any of you who've posted]

All I will comment on is what we were told by our favorite vet, his head
vet tech and how well we work with him versus others.

There is one person who demands privledges including being in the O/R and
that Dr K drop all current patients when she decides she needs to have her
ferret seen. He hates that. He has actually hidden from her when she does
that. The vet techs hate that and wish they could get away with hiding
from her too.

We however politely set up appointments and co-operate with the people at
the desk. When its important we've dropped out ferrets off in the morning
to let Dr. K get to them as soon as he can. Many of the workers there know
us and how Dr. K treats us. Some don't. When he sees us he will often
slip out of what he's doing to see if we need immediate attention because
he knows that if we are there it is quite likely to be a real emergency.
Even as the receptionist is trying to tell us he won't be able to see us,
he comes up and sees us anyway.

So perhaps its largely a vinegar versus honey approach. Co-operate with
the people as best you can don't panic and call every little sniffle an
emergency. Learn as much as you can about your ferrets health so that you
can make the determination of how critical it really is. Don't demand but
firmly request if you have to.

Treat your vet as a professional not as a servant. He or she will end up
liking you enough that he or she will be more willing to go that extra
step.

Check with Ferretware in California. She has exclusive rights as I
understand it. http://www.ferretware.com or 1-800-FERRETWare (650)917-0346
if you're in California. Say hi to Hildy for us!

Skip the stud books and the FURO rules. Get "The FURO book of Ferrets"
that you didn't mention. And "Tao Full of Detours: The Behavior of the
Domestic Ferret" that is the best of the bunch.

The stud books are just lists of ferrets that by now are deceased. The
information is rigidly and copyrighted so it can't even be used to build a
database of ancestry - that is specifically disallowed. FURO is gone as
far as shows go and they had an overgenerous allocation of different colors
that are not realistic. Lilac? If you want to do something about starting
up shows down under, then work with groups whose systems have succeeded.

The Reproduction book is very interesting but wrong in many cases. Get it
anyway! The Tao full of Detours is very interesting though I don't trust
its accuracy completely. Get it anyway!

If something like that happens, have them copy your mailbox from the var
directory into your home directory (or someother place) and replace your
real mailbox with an empty file. Pine can access bigger files that aren't
your inbox (the file in the var directory).

This has happened to me more than once and thats how I resolve it.

Though it sounds like you have a limit on your space that is outside of
pine. Elm can handle larger file than pine but its annoying. Plain old
mail works better with them as well.

If your local geek boys need step by step instructions, just ask. I do
unix sysadmin along with engineering.

But that comment on not sending such large files (usually pictures) really
applies to everyone, ask or at least warn you want to send something big.

Well to your ferrets they are good treats. They are. Yummy crunchy good.

Have you forgotten what you yourself have posted? That cat was generic for
small rodent eater? Cat might not have replaced ferret but the definition
of cat changed. Though cats are less prevalent than dogs.

Or was the cattus versus felis thing not yours?
