I've had several kids over the years that required bilateral
adrenalectomies. In each case I was able to eventually wean them off of
the post-op prednisone completely - until now. Pepper is 4 months post-op.
We've made several attempts to diminish the pred (PediaPred) and each time
she begins losing weight significantly. We've seen two "steroid crashes"
with her. Keeping her a 1 ml/day of PediaPred seems to allow her to
maintain her weight. When that dose is reduced to 1 ml every other day -
the weight loss begins.

My questions are: What is the typical maintenance level of prednisone for
these little guys? What are the effects of long term steroid therapy?

Thanks in advance - and hope everyone has a great holiday!
