Skip Martin is very good about custom making cages. We have two -- a 3
story one and a 2 story one for travel that was custom made to *just* fit
in our car. Both, by my insistance, have floors that go across the whole
width and length of the cage (except for a small hole for the ramp to the
next floor) rather than the more usual open design that wastes volume and
makes me worry whether a ferret will hurt itself by falling. I consider
the price of both cages to be excellent for what we got.

The floors of our cages are galvanized wire. Plastic covered wire is also
available. I covered the floors by buying some cheap outdoor carpet at a
hardware store and cutting pieces of the carpet to size.
