Hello everyone,
My name is Tiffany Taylor(no not the on from mordern ferret) and I am new
to the FML, but not to ferrets. I am a Zoology student in my third year at
Ohio Wesleyan University, and I am trying, as much as one can, revolve my
degree around ferrets. I have been though alot with my ferrets, ECE,
distemper vacc. reactions, nipping, alot. Currently my roomie and I have
12 ferrets. Recently we took in two foster ferrets, from Lori in Cinn,OH,
to help her nip train them. They are showing marked improvement, but
Akasha (one of the fosters) has started a strange habbit. A few days ago
we pulled out their blankets to wash them and I noticed some holes in them.
I really did not give it much thought, I figured that they may have been
ripped on the cage. Well, then last night I noticed more holes, again I
did not give it much thought, my roomie and I started joking about them
eating the blankets and being ferret moths. WEll this morning we woke up
and I went upstairs to brush my teeth and Kate (my roomie) was still
downstairs. All of a sudden I hear Kate yell Akasha what are you doing!
Kate runs upstairs with a stuffed seal in her hands. (We keep the seal in
there because Isis, Akasha's roomie will not sleep w/o it). she told me
that Akasha was lounging in her cage chewing on the seal's tag and it was
almost all gone. Well our joking around was right! Akasha was eating the
blanket! I have been told in the past that ferrets tend to chew on red
blankets/towels/clothes, but these are white and very light blue! I do not
understand this is she doing this out of bordem? she gets plently of play
time, recieves lots of treats and she has a bunch of friends. If anyone has
anyone
advise or recommendations, PLEASE write me!
Thank You So Much,
Tiffany, Kate, Nathan, and all of the fuzzies (Tukano, Desana, Lakota,
Cheyenne, Inca, Gemini, Aries, Beloved Briar Rose(Beve), Apollo, Burning
Ember, Athena, Spirit, Akasha, and Isis)
