We have a five month old male ferret (sharing a cage with a 9 month of
spayed female) that has taken to rolling in his urine every single time he
has to go. This has been going on for about 5 weeks. No pain on urination
or excessive frequency so have ruled out infection. Have checked his
bottom for "family jewels" thinking that maybe he is a whole boy after all.
Nothing there, but he really doesn't like me probing around. As we have
only ever dealt with neutered males, I honestly don't know when a whole
male's privates would normally descend. Could he be a late bloomer going
into his first season? I know that whole males will groom themselves with
urine and semen so I suspect that he wasn't nuetered.Any ideas on why he
could be doing this would be greatly appreciated. Will be taking him to
the vet's on the weekend, but I would like to be more informed when I go.
Please respond directly as I am way behind on my FMLs.

Much thanks
Deb
