How will this research be done? I am wondering if healthy ferrets will
be infected with the disease. I realize some research is necessary, but
I believe that way too many ferrets had to suffer the consequences of the
rabies shed study, and that Marshall Farms was all too willing to supply
ferrets for that study. I realize that the rabies study was necessitated
by the fact that we needed protection for ferrets who bite someone, so
they wouldn't be needlessly euthanized, but I just feel that way too many
ferrets had to die for that study. I don't even want to know the number
sacrificed. I'm not trying to start an animal rights discussion. I just
want to know how this proposed research will be carried out.
