I wanted to give everyone an update on Floyd Marie. I just spoke with
Elizabeth Ward, Floyd Marie's caretaker, a few moments ago.
First of all, HUGE THANKS to everyone who has offered to donate towards
her surgery and to those involved in fundraisers. Elizabeth is astounded
at the outpouring of support - ferret folks have such amazing capacity for
generosity!
OK, so, the update. First, the not-so-good news. There has been a lot of
confusion at the vet school about scheduling the surgery, which as you may
recall, it was thought needed to be done the first week of December so that
the bone would still be alive. The surgeon is booked solid. The rest of
the news is great, though! Floyd Marie's regular vet has been taking
periodic x-rays to see how the bone is doing, and it looks like the bone is
not deteriorating as fast as was feared. It's still in good shape. Also,
a few qualified orthopedic surgeon vets in the area have been identified,
and they are being contacted about doing the surgery. One way or another,
the surgery will be attempted (thanks to the financial support) and Floyd
Marie will have the best possible shot at keeping her leg. :-)
Here's the contact info for Elizabeth Ward and Floyd Marie:

Thanks again for your amazing help!
