Today's Washington Post Health Section (11/2/99) contains an Animal House
column by Harriet Winslow called "Ferret Fans Fight Back." Dr. Bruce
Williams and Dr. Charles Weiss are quoted, among other folks.
The article is on the website, WashingtonPost.com. Click on Health on the
left to get to the Health section table of contents. The URL that may work

[Moderator's note: I found it at the following URL, as did Linda Iroff:

It's nice PR and even mentions cryo surgery, though I always flinch a
little when I hear people say ferrets are easy to care for and can be
trained to use a litter box. I tend to go the opposite route and tell
people ferrets are wonderful but more work than dogs and cats and are not
really cage animals (though they can be in cages when unsupervised).
People are always expressing shock to me that ferrets don't stay in cages.
Or as someone recently said (wish I remembered who - please stand forward
and take credit) ferrets are not pocket pets.
Of course, the columnist interviewed many people and culled the interviews
down to a column, and then who knows what the editors did to it after that
(it does seem a little choppy). But it's good to get positive, national
press, huh?
All the best -
