Okay, after reading more Iams posts and thinking about the phone
conversation I had last week with the Iams customer representative, I am
embarrassed to have to admit it: being relatively unschooled in what
constitutes a "change" in formula, I was naive enough to believe that
what they told me was true.
I checked the label -- yes, I see that Iams' formula has changed. I am
quite upset, because I must emphasize that I feel I was flat out *lied* to
by Iams. I asked a *very* specific question: have you changed or will you
be changing your formula? I got what I thought was a very specific answer:
NO. Now I understand that I was being naive -- if indeed a food company
will do anything to avoid actually saying they're changing the formula,
then that will include creative redefining of what constitutes a "change"
and what constitutes a "benefit" to the animal (and which animals will
benefit).
I guess Iams' definition of "change" is a lot like Clinton's definition of
"sexual relations." I'm very disappointed in a company I had tentatively
come to trust.
At any rate, now I'm really distressed, because Totally Ferret may be great
for them but costs a whopping $18 for a 5 lb bag! This compared to $6.88
for a 5 lb bag of Iams kitten at the grocery store.
